Maxwell IT is hiring for a Tier I Network Engineer.
Job Description:
In this position, you will be responsible for acting as first tier technical support, handling both customer- and monitoring-generated issues. This position will be a member of a team of support professionals who interact daily with clients seeking technical support and expertise. Under limited supervision, you will assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation and monitoring of data and voice network systems ranging from basic to complex. You will perform analysis and troubleshooting to rectify problems, as well as escalate issues as directed.
Essential Duties:
IT Engineering – Troubleshooting, analysis, escalation and proactive communication, both remote and in the field.
Project Management – All engineers are given projects to manage based on their skill level and are trained on our standard methodology: from basic server virtualization to VLAN design.
Subject Matter Expertise (SME) – Our engineers follow their interests in specialization. Each team member has one or more subject matter expertise (SME) responsibilities. Whether it is building out our private cloud BDR solution or implementing a SIEM – we strive to match you with your area of interest to help build and maintain our technology standards.
Account Management – Depending on their level of expertise, our engineers will have client-facing responsibilities and must be able to maintain client relationships. We mentor you to learn our standard of strategic road mapping and vCIO level consulting.

Knowledge and Expertise:
One to three years of network administration and support experience
Understanding of the principles, methods and techniques used in network administration and support
Solid understanding of LAN, WAN, VLAN or firewall environments
Knowledge of hierarchical and multi-layer network design
Expertise in network management systems architecture, such as network monitoring, fault detection, device management, etc.
Strong grasp of desktop operating systems and applications
Knowledge of voice and conferencing technologies
Must be able to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship and be able to successfully complete a background investigation and drug screening
Technical Certifications / Ongoing Training:
A+, Network+, CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, CEH, CISSP, Project+, ITIL, PMP, Security+ are desired. Please share with us the certifications you have, as well as those you are interested in achieving. We incorporate annual certifications into our career development plans.
Education:
We are looking for candidates who possess an AA, BA or BS degree, and/or is in the process of completing college. Specialization in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
